It’s the start of a new year! For me, the first months of the year are never the most fun. The stress ofย school again, dreary weather and post-Christmas depression. I would personally much prefer to just skip these couple of months and jump straight to spring. But, unfortunately, that ain’t gonna happen! So I find pleasure in the little things, like a perfect lazy day.

I can immensely enjoy doing nothing. Just chilling in my room, listening to some music with a cup of tea. So here are some tips for a perfect lazy day!

Clean bedding. I don’t know why, but clean bedding makes me really happy. It makes your whole room feel (and smell) so much more fresh and comfy.

Candles. If you couldn’t already tell by some of my other posts, I’m obsessed with candles. They just make your room instantly feel cozy.

Vinyl. Record players have been back on trend for a while, and I can totally see why. It just gives any music such a nice, rustic and old-fashioned feel to it.ย Some of my favourite records to put on at the moment are Beirut – “No No No”, Birdy – “Beautiful Lies”, and everything Frank Sinatra.

Tea. Coffee. Hot chocolate. Any hot drink really can be, especially on a cold day, ย just the thing you need. Some teas are also great for de-stressing and relaxation.

Books books books… Now I am guity of not reading nearly enough. Whenever I have some spare time I often watch a movie or show. But reading is so much better and so good for de-stressing. It’s good to not be looking at a screen from time to time. So for me, reading more is definitely an important New Years resolution.

Journaling. I know this is not for everyone, but I find journalling really helps me clear my mind. Not everyday. Often not even every week. But when I have a lot on my mind, I find it quite comforting to just write it all down. It feels like you’re just writing your troubles away and end up being more at ease. The same goes for drawing, I love drawing and have been doing it more and more since a few weeks.

I think cozyness is the keyword for my perfect lazy day. Preferably a rainy (or snowy) day, where you don’t have to go outside all day. And can just chill with some good food, drinks and a nice movie or book!

  1. You’ve found some lovely ways to relax during these less-exciting months of the year! I agree, January isn’t the best, though brighter (and warmer!) days are just around the corner ๐Ÿ™‚ I love some of your home accessories featured in this post, by the way.
