And I mean literally…. I had been looking for a good chocolate chip cookies recipe, until I saw this video from Zoe Sugg aka Zoella. I think the recipe is originally from Tanya Burr. Anyway, trust me when I say that these really are the best chocolate chip cookies ever. They are soo perfectly gooey. And you can use just about any chocolate you like!

What you’ll need:

  • 200 gr. soft butter
  • 300 gr. caster sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 275 gr. self-raising flour
  • 2 tsp. vanila extract
  • 2 tbsp. cocoa powder (optional)
  • 3 bars of chocolate. I chose 1 bar of dark chocolate, 1 bar white chocolate and 1 bar milka daim chocolate. >> You can use any chocolate really, I just really like the combination of these three. <<

Start by preheating the oven to 200ºC (390ºF), and lining your baking trays with paper. Mix the butter with the sugar. Then add in the egg. When this is mixed, add the self-raising flour and the vanilla extract. When mixing, make sure to spoon the flour into the mixture a bit before you start mixing. Or else you will be covered in a cloud of flour.

Once this is all mixed, you can choose to add the cocoa powder. I wanted a bit of both, so I just put half of my mixture in a seperate bowl. Then I added the cacao powder into one of the bowls. Break the chocolate into chunks and  add into both bowls, making sure you put equal amounts of the different chocolates in each bowl. After mixing this, you can scoop out little balls and put them on a baking tray. It’s okay if they look a bit messy.

Pop them in the oven and bake for around 12 minutes.

Once you get the cookies out of the oven, leave them cool on a cooling rack for around 15 minutes. Then, dig in! They are definitely best then they are just out of the over, when the chocolate is still soft and the cookies are extremely gooey. Perfect with a nice cup of tea, or if you want a chocolate overdose like me, some hot chocolate!
