A new adventure! A couple of days ago we set off to beautiful Austria. A country which I had never visited before. Mountains, glaciers, lakes, I was excited to see it all! We stayed in a small town called Ladis, in the South-West of Austria. This post is going to be all about my journey here, and the first day of exploring Austria. I hope you enjoy reading it!
During our 10 hour journey from Holland to Austria, we took a small break. We stopped to see the Bodensee, an enormous lake, spreaded over Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Blue skies, a bright blue lake, the sun was shining, a perfect little break from a long car ride!
~ THE NEXT DAY ~
On our first full day in Austria, we decided to jump in head first and searched for some heights. We took the cable cars up to 2600 m., to the Schonjoch mountain in Fiss. This was my first time ever on a mountain this high, and WOW the view was spectacular!
We hiked up to the hightest point, where people were flying model airplanes and where people were paragliding. I had been the one yelling that I wanted to go paragliding, but standing up on that mountain and seeing people set off made me change my mind haha. One thing that I noticed were all the small stone towers that were built besides the walking trails. Apparently, building a small stone tower at a place like that means good fortune, which I thought was pretty cool.
On top of the mountain we had a small break. A nice refreshing drink after a long walk, with a perfect view, what more could you want?! And of course, my feet were very thankful for sitting down after such a long hike.
Standing on top of those mountains made me feel like I was standing on top of the world! Nature is so beautiful and I can’t wait to experience more of it on this holiday.
It was such a nice first day. Even better when we got to end it with some nice cocnut macarons. We found a cute stall at bottom of the mountain, which was actually from the Netherlands! >> Madame Cocos << So of course we bought some sweet treats for the way home!
Be on the look out for more Austria posts!
